Student Professional Development Conference

This annual event is a professional-style conference for high school students, complete with a networking breakfast, keynote address, interactive workshops and a ‘dress for success’ contest.

The interactive workshops led by business partners are the highlight of the event. Approximately twenty workshops are run by business partners who volunteer their time to conduct dynamic and engaging sessions designed to open the students' minds to new ideas, concepts and job opportunities in their chosen fields of interest.

The 2008 Student Professional Development Conference was held on March 19, 2008 at the Universities at Shady Grove and served over 700 students from the Academies of IT, Finance, Project Lead the Way (Engineering), Law, Medicine and Hospitality and Tourism.

Students kicked-off their day with a keynote address from Mr. Stedman Graham.

This year's business presenters included Booz Allen Hamilton, Clark Construction, Hogan & Hartson, IDEO, Kaiser Permanente, Lockheed Martin, Marriott International,McDonalds, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sodexho, Sprint Nextel, and UnitedHealthcare.
